Wow, what an interesting interview. It's definetley true about these "!!!" style sales pitches which inevitably end up asking for a nominal fee. You can't type out a used car salesman pitch on a website and expect a result: it's a totally different arena where a certain degree of human interaction is lacking and needs compensating.

Thankyou very much, this was very enlightening

Hi Alan,

This interview led to me making an important change to our website.

I downloaded this podcast because of conversion rate in the title. Upon listening to it I got the feeling that it didn’t really apply to our product website, but fortunately I kept listening anyway due to the great delivery keeping my attention.

The next day I was thinking back to the podcast and it suddenly clicked that it was the principle of making contact easier in order to increase trust, not the mechanism that mattered. Telephone or live chat would not really work for us due to the time difference between our largest market in the US and ourselves in the UK. So I thought to myself; if I can’t provide a live contact, what is the next best thing? The solution was instead of hiding our email address on the support page, which often implies there is something is wrong, I put an icon on every page with text using a direct email-to link.

Many thanks for the inspiration,
Derek.

Thanks for comments Lochlin and James.

Please keep them coming.

Alan :-)

P.S. As for the promotions we could use the pass it forward methodology ... tell 3 people who agree to tell 3 people. Yes world domination is closer than we think. ;-)

Hi Alan,

Thanks for letting me know about your blog. I'll certainly start reading it as it appears to have quite a bit of good information on it.

Hey Japh,

Look for the tab that says free video. Ari is now streaming the video.

It is a live seminar and is definitely worth watching.

Cheers,

Hi Alan,

Great podcast! Some really valuable and useful information there, and something to actually go away and apply.

One question though, I followed the link you provided, but I can't find anything about a "free DVD" on the page... am I missing something?

Cheers,
Japh
